Extraordinary School

There have been only a few extremely progressive lab schools historically. These include the University of Chicago’s lab school under John Dewey at the turn of the 20th century, the Ohio State lab school in the 1930s, and the Mankato Wilson campus school in the late 1960s and 1970s.Wilson campus school.jpg

Using original footage, the University and Dr. Don Glines produced a videotape, now a DVD, describing the school often listed as the most innovative in America ever. Glines made 63 changes to the program overnight including abolishing the standard curriculum and required attendance. The school ran 24/7 year-round serving 600 K-12 pupils later adding preschool and adult programs. He also pioneered teacher training programs and a new experiential education at the University. The school achieved remarkable results and its materials are now archived at Minnesota University at Mankato for the use of anyone researching school change.

It is now available through our online store. The new price is $20 ($15 for members) plus shipping. The school will blow your mind!
